This is from a series of gifts that I finished back in September. They are actually Christmas gifts which I handed out to 7 of my friends. I decided to do a sort of Versus Theme which meant having two characters per present. After I picked up some canvas’ at the store I realized there was too much empty space and I needed something for the center. So each one has something different in its center.

These gifts are special in another way as i’m using magnets attached to the sprites and metal sheets behind the canvas. This lets people swap other sprites at will.

Here we go! Cloud Vs. Sephiroth! Cloud I had made before so he was a breeze, but Sephiroth definitely took some extra time. I had to make a lot of modifications to make his shoulder pad more visible to differentiate that and his hair. I had to toss some blue into his cloak because I only had so many shades of black/grey.

Here we have Sabin and Edgar from Final Fantasy VI. Originally I had planned on putting a coin in the middle with heads on both sides, but I couldn’t not create a sprite that conveyed it appropriately. In the end I made the changes as you see now. This was for my friend Marro.

Link Vs Ganon

Here we have Link and Ganon. This is the first one I made for my friend Steve and afterwards decided to make one for more of my friends. It was either the choice of embelishing this one, or making more for everyone. This is still one of my favorites as Link came out very well. Ganon I had to do a lot of color swapping until I found something that worked.

Killua Vs Gon

These two are from an anime series called Hunter x Hunter which my friend Mike and I watched a lot time ago. I had a lot of options to do for him, but thought this was obscure enough yet cool enough at the same time. Most people probably won’t know this one.

Gaara Vs. Rock Le

This one is for my friend Nick with a Naruto theme. The middle pieces was a poor attempt at trying to write Love in Kanji, aka whats on Gaara’s face. This was one of my favorite battles of all time earlier in the series and Rock Le was one of Nick’s more enjoyable characters.

Ken Vs. Ryu

I made this for my friend Jeremy who these are the only two characters he knows how to use in Street Fighter. The center piece is a poorly made mini sprite version of the SF2 versus logo. If I were to do this one again, i’d change the colors of the belts.

Gau Vs. Kenshin

Ebattousai is a nickname my friend use to go by. Obviously Gau and Kenshin are from different Universes, but they are both characters in which Eddie enjoys.

Mounted Clock

I decided to make a clock for my friend Steve for his Birthday. In this case I used Final Fantasy as the theme and each number of the clock would represent a character in the that given Final Fantasy Game. For awhile I debated doing some sort of versus theme. Example Cloud = 12 and Sephiroth 6. Terra as 1 and Kefka ans 7. Etc. I ended up throwing this idea out the window and I think I am happier with how I ended up leaving it. I purposely did not want to have any numbers on the clock as each figure should represent the number without thinking.

Here is the entire thing in all its glory after I put it up on my friends wall. I left the cabinet in the picture so you can see that each piece is about the size of a cereal box. Aka huge. I bought a giant clock mechanism from Michaels (hobby store).
